Set along the tranquil banks of the River Spree in a quiet and familiar area on the outskirts of Berlin, this project is a harmonious blend of two distinct worlds. Designed as a permanent residence for a couple, the home captures the essence of the Mediterranean while embracing the cosmopolitan energy of Berlin. Terraza Balear was entrusted with creating a unique interior that reflects the clients’ deep connection to the island of Mallorca, seamlessly integrating it into the heart of Northern Europe.
Terraza Balear approached the project with a 360º vision, handling every aspect from materials and carpentry to lighting and furniture. Inspired by the Mallorcan essence, the design incorporates warm, earthy tones, textured finishes, and subtle blue accents reminiscent of the island’s landscape. With Berlin’s darker light conditions in mind, the interiors were designed to maximize brightness and create an inviting atmosphere. Custom details, such as ceiling-height doors, indirect lighting, and meticulously selected finishes, reflect the precision and care infused into every corner of this home.
The daytime living spaces, including the kitchen and living zone, were designed to exude timeless elegance and refined aesthetics. A Poliform kitchen takes center stage with its sleek lines and minimalist design, harmonizing effortlessly with the overall layout. The living and dining areas, featuring curated pieces from Minotti and Janua, showcase a cohesive balance of modern sophistication and artistic expression. These spaces celebrate natural light and open flow, creating an atmosphere of understated luxury.
The private areas, including the master bedroom and bathroom, were tailored for relaxation and serenity. The bedroom exudes a warm, welcoming ambiance, enhanced by custom wardrobes and soft furnishings that prioritise comfort. Antonio Lupi bathrooms bring a touch of luxury with clean, minimalist lines and exceptional craftsmanship. Lighting by Occhio enhances the serene atmosphere, ensuring the spaces feel like a personal retreat.
The home’s outdoor areas, though compact, were designed to reflect the Mediterranean ethos of harmony with nature. Situated near the river and surrounded by lush greenery, these spaces provide an idyllic setting for relaxation. The design connects the interiors with the outdoors, further emphasizing the Mediterranean influence while adapting to Berlin’s distinct environment.
The project Berlin embodies the fusion of Mediterranean warmth and the modern sophistication of the North European capital. By bringing the island’s natural beauty and essence into every aspect of the home, Terraza Balear has crafted a space that feels both familiar and extraordinary. From the thoughtfully selected furnishings to bespoke artwork inspired by coastal landscapes, every detail celebrates the clients’ vision of a home that bridges two worlds.
